    Patrick J. Maslyn Joins Kaufman & Canoles

    Kaufman & Canoles, P.C. is pleased to announce that Patrick J. Maslyn has joined the firm as Of Counsel in the Richmond office. Mr. Maslyn will be a member of the firms Franchising and Manufacturing & Distribution teams.

    Mr. Maslyn comes to the firm with years of experience working with franchisors and franchisees. He has helped countless start-up franchisors and several Fortune 20 companies structure their franchise systems and manage their franchisee networks. He has effectively served his franchisor clients providing advice and counseling in areas like antitrust, intellectual property, sourcing and advertising issues, in addition to drafting Franchise Agreements, Development Agreements, and Franchise Disclosure Documents, filing state franchise registration and exemption applications, and counseling on compliance with the complicated patchwork of state franchise relationship laws. Mr. Maslyn earned his B.A. from Miami University and his J.D. from The George Washington University Law School.

    The Franchise Team at Kaufman & Canoles has a history of success in representing both franchisors and franchisees. The attorneys have served as counsel for large and small franchisors, as well as multi-unit and single unit franchisees.

    The Manufacturing & Distribution Team at Kaufman & Canoles advises clients on a myriad of legal issues, including corporate governance, tax, mergers and acquisitions, real estate, employment issues (including issues related to non-competition, restrictive covenants and trade secret agreements), OSHA/work place safety, product liability, contract and intellectual property matters.
