2013 Year-End Tax Planning Webinar

November 21, 2013

January 1, 2013 marked the introduction of 7 new or increased taxes that will impact your 2013 tax bill, particularly if you’re a “high income” taxpayer (defined differently for different tax provisions). There is still time to address ways to limit the reach of these new taxes through proper planning.

In addition, the new year will bring with it the new penalty tax on taxpayers failing to maintain minimum essential health coverage on all members of the taxpayer’s household, and the potential problem of having to repay some portion of an advance premium tax credit received by individuals receiving subsidies from the new health insurance Marketplace.

On Thursday, November 21, 2013, at 12:00 p.m. (EST) John M. Peterson, James W.C. Canup and Christopher S. Johnson will present an overview of these tax law changes. Among the items to be covered include:

  • 2013 tax rate increases
  • Medicare tax increase
  • Phase outs of itemized deductions and personal exemptions
  • 3.8% unearned income tax surcharge
  • Retirement plan income tax sheltering strategies
  • Recharacterization of investment income
  • The 2014 individual mandate and advance premium tax credits

We look forward to providing some insights into the tax changes that are occurring in 2013 and to helping you develop your personal strategy for tax minimization.
