“Clients come to us for guidance across the spectrum of infrastructure projects: from real estate development and planning to financing and construction to litigation and everything in between. And that’s what we deliver, time and time again.”

    • Who We Are

Our Infrastructure & Transportation team helps clients develop, finance, build, and manage major projects: bridges, schools, highway interchanges, ports, roads, wastewater and stormwater systems, airports, stadiums and arenas, and more. We draw upon the diverse strengths of the firm – in public finance, government contracts, construction, real estate, litigation, municipal, and tax – to provide full-service legal advice combined with the business and strategic counsel our clients need to complete their developments.

    • How We Help

From facilities for Virginia’s highways, ports, commuter, and rail systems to the construction, financing, and operation of transportation and infrastructure projects, our team members lead sophisticated, unique, and high-priority developments throughout the Commonwealth.

We guide clients through myriad legal, business, and strategic decisions. We draft, negotiate, and document project and financing agreements, and contracts. We work with governmental entities to identify and obtain state and local incentives. And we actively defend the rights of our clients facing project-related disputes, both in the boardroom and the courtroom.

Our lawyers have particular strengths in guiding clients through complex projects that involve public finance and in successfully obtaining project approvals from local, state, and regional bodies. In addition, we regularly serve as bond counsel and underwriter’s counsel.

Clients appreciate our practical solutions to the legal and business challenges they face. They know they can rely on our team to mitigate financial, construction, political, and other risks and disputes throughout the lives of their projects and look to us to help them minimize the liabilities typically associated with infrastructure developments. They count on the depth and breadth of our experience – and our seamless coordination across practices – to ensure the smooth and timely execution of their projects.

    • Who We Represent

Our Transportation & Infrastructure lawyers represent a broad group of entities: financial institutions, project sponsors, investors, contractors, public/private partnerships, infrastructure construction companies, infrastructure funds, government entities, and others active in the Commonwealth and the region.

We typically work with senior management, including chief financial officers, finance directors, vice presidents of operations, relationship managers, and others seeking to complete major projects as they manage stakeholder involvement, reputational risks, and external challenges.
